What is the Parent Education Program?
The Parent Education Program is a series of learning sessions created specifically for YOU, the caregiver of a child with hearing loss. This is a unique opportunity to learn from expert Listening and Spoken Language specialists and to connect with your community of parents and professionals. As your child is working hard learning to listen and speak, you will also be working hard this year to learn how to best support their development.
When and where are Parent Education learning sessions held?
Learning sessions take place monthly at 7:30 pm PST. Sessions will be held virtually, so that all members of our community can attend. A Zoom link will be sent the week of the learning session. *Please RSVP at least two days before the day of the session to Shannon Sharma: ssharma@weingartencc.org
What will we learn?
There is a lot to learn, and the school years pass by quickly. Think: what do YOU need to know to be your child’s most effective and important teacher at home? Each session is a neatly packaged summary of a topic area, including the latest research, resources, and ways that you can immediately implement new strategies at home. Some popular sessions this past year include Speech Development and Hearing Loss, Executive Functioning Skills, Literacy, Parenting Strategies, Audiology topics, and Transitioning to the Mainstream Classroom.
Check out what our parents have to say about our Parent Educaton Program:

Kindergarten parent:
“When we graduate, can we still join parent education?”
