TeachLSL™ is a virtual program that teaches children over 3 who are deaf or hard of hearing to listen & talk.

TeachLSL™ is designed to provide support services to students ages 3 and up who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) throughout California. TeachLSL™ Teachers of the Deaf or Speech Pathologists support the acadenic needs of students and also assess their language, listening, and speech skills, ensuring that they are making the most of their hearing technology. Components of the TeachLSL™ include:

  • Individual therapy and/or DHH services
  • Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)
  • Consulting services
  • Individualized Education Plan (IEP) support; including goal writing, advocacy, and attending IEP meetings

TeachLSL™ Services

D/HH Services

TeachLSL™ D/HH services are provided by Teachers of the Deaf who focus on Listening and Spoken Language. Sessions may follow a direct and/or indirect service model. Direct services can be push-in or pull-out of classrooms.

Speech and Language Therapy

TeachLSL™ speech and language therapy sessions are provided by Speech Language Pathologists who focus on Listening and Spoken Language. Sessions are child-led and focus on play-based activities. Caregiver/provider education and support is integrated into each session.

Consult

TeachLSL™ Consult services support the child’s IEP  team through: observing, mentoring, and/or coaching to help develop and support IEP goals.

Our Programs Work

“I’m so grateful for TeachLSL, they have helped my daughter and me in countless ways. I’ve learned how to support her at home and become a better advocate for her at school. TeachLSL provides continual guidance for my daughter’s IEP team so she may continue to reach her language and educational goals.”

Interested in bringing TeachLSL™ into your home or school?

TeachLSL™ services are determined based on each student’s individuals needs and goals. TeachLSL™ professionals are comfortable working on these LSL strategies in Total Communication (TC) classrooms. We aim to be flexible to help meet the needs of staff and students. Services are covered through school district contracts, insurance, private pay, and scholarship opportunities.
